In response to the global spread of COVID-19, the demand for resin products with antiviral properties has been increasing. However, existing antiviral processing agents tend to exhibit limited antiviral efficacy when added in small amounts to resins, and excessive addition leads to increased costs and deterioration of resin properties.

To address these challenges, we have newly developed an antiviral processing agent for compounding into resins, “NOVARON® IV 4000,” which can impart high antiviral efficacy even at low loading levels. By incorporating NOVARON® IV 4000 at 2 wt% into various resins, extremely high antiviral activity against influenza viruses can be achieved. In addition, since this material does not contain silver, it is less prone to discoloration and has been confirmed to have minimal adverse effects on resin properties.

In this paper, we introduce the features and antiviral performance of the antiviral processing agent for resin compounding, “NOVARON® IV 4000.”
