UV-Curable Insulating Coating Agent
Development of a UV-Curable Insulating Coating Agent ARONIX UVX-5800
ARONIX UVX-5800 is a high-purity, specialty-acrylate UV-curable insulating coating developed to improve electrical insulation and insulation reliability in high-density electronics. It can be considered for UV-curable conformal coating, PCB protective coating, circuit board insulating coating, FPC protective coating, FPD or display insulating coating, and transparent insulating coating applications for silver electrodes, polyimide film, glass, and ACF interfaces.
As electrode spacing narrows, moisture, dust, halide ions, and ionic contamination can cause insulation defects. In silver electrodes, absorbed moisture promotes silver migration and dendrite growth; if a dendrite bridges the electrodes, a short circuit can occur. UVX-5800 is designed as an ion migration prevention coating. Low moisture permeability, low water absorption, low ionic impurities, and strong adhesion to polyimide and glass help reduce moisture ingress, prevent silver migration, suppress dendrite growth, and lower short-circuit risk.
The cured product showed 1.8% water absorption and moisture permeability of 13.5 g/m²·24 h, about half the comparison values. Chloride ions were 1.8 ppm, and sodium and sodium ions were 0.5 ppm, supporting high-purity UV coating and low-halide insulating coating design. Polyimide peel strength was 9.0 N/cm before and 14.6 N/cm after thermal shock; glass tensile bond strength was 279 and 293 N/cm². Adhesion did not decrease after 20 cycles between −40°C and +85°C.
In an 80 V insulation reliability test at 40°C and 80% RH using 50 μm/50 μm comb-shaped silver electrodes, UVX-5800 maintained insulation resistance for 1,000 hours. No dendrite-like deposits or electrode-width changes were observed. These results support use as a moisture-proof insulating coating, humidity-resistant insulating coating, moisture-resistant PCB coating, coating for narrow-pitch electrodes, and UV cure protective coating for cell phones, digital cameras, displays, and precision devices.
