| Curing reaction and working mechanism of SILAS | |
| Evaporation of water from the emulsion causes the particles to adhere, which in turn results in the reaction between the alkoxysilyl group (Si-OR), which has been stable in the polymer, and water to form silanol group (Si-OR). | |
| The silanol groups thus formed react with each other to form a cross linked structure, resulting in the formation of durable film excellent in adhesion to the base material. | |
