Q-1 is synthesized by reaction of a silicate source (Rice-Hull-Ash etc.) and tetraalkylammonium hydroxide (Fig. 4).

Q-2 is synthesized by reaction of Q-1 and chlorodimethylsilane. Q-6 is synthesized by the reaction of Q-1 and chlorodimethylvinylsilane (Fig. 5).
